Huawei Consumer Business Group has teamed up with eminent Fashion designer Norine Farah to reveal how the integration of technology into our wardrobes is going to be the next big thing. The designer’s collection titled “The Mate 8”, was inspired by Huawei’s flagship smartphone and the beautiful capitals Rome and Beirut, showcasing the beautiful and intricate details and elements of technology incorporated into garments and style. This is the first time in the region for a designer to craft a dress inspired by a smart phone, reversing a trend that has long seen technology drawing inspiration from fashion.
Huawei values fashion the same way it does innovation and puts in grave efforts in producing cutting edge, quirky and pieces of technology that, next to their breakthrough innovation, can also be accessorized as part of any chic outfit. Norine Farah matches Huawei’s brand spirit in fashion with her sleek, chic and put together designs resembling the characteristics of Huawei smartphones.
“My newest collection was inspired by the Huawei Mate 8 phone’s design but also by amazing sceneries from Rome and Beirut. I chose three different themes to show off the many aspects I love about the phone. The first is elegant and sophisticated baroque inspired, then comes the hip, rock, always trendy theme and lastly, the smooth and silky soft theme” said Norine.
Furthering adding, she stated: “The gold dress is the main star. I chose gold because I personally love my gold Mate 8. The dress reflects my interpretation of the phone’s aesthetics. It’s one solid, rich color. The cut of the dress is edgy, yet at the same time soft and body hugging. It looks elegant beyond its time — at least that’s how I see it. I personally believe it’s the most comfortable gown I have ever made because the fabric drapes very elegantly without needing a corset. Lastly, the dress can be worn front-to-back reversed, which is a reflection of the user friendly features I experienced in the device.”
Solidifying their belief in fashion and the importance it holds, Huawei has sponsored many high end fashion activities and events such as Dubai Fashion week which is considered a permanent feature on the International fashion week circuit alongside London and Paris. In the recently concluded episode, Nancy Ajram; Huawei’s brand ambassador in the Middle East and North Africa, was captured wearing some the latest Huawei smart watch.
HUAWEI has also partnered with global icons of fashion like Vogue and top jewelry brand Swarovski in their latest high end wearable lady watch. On a the same track, Huawei has recently announced top Hollywood stars Henry Cavil and Scarlet Johansson as new Huawei P9 ambassadors, and fashion photographers such as Mary McCartney.
