VIP ESPORTS REIGNS SUPREME IN FREE FIRE ARAB LEAGUE

Dubai, 22 March 2021: VIP ESPORTS from Iraq overcame stern competition from the best teams in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to be crowned champions in the third edition of the Free Fire Arab League. 

In the Grand Final stage which saw the 12 qualified teams from across the MENA region go head-to-head, VIP ESPORTS rose to the occasion to get their hands on the winning trophy.

As well as winning a share of the USD $30,000 prize money, VIP ESPORTS also qualified directly to the Free Fire World Series and will represent the MENA region in the international competition in May.

DEA from Algeria and VIP also from Iraq finished second and third place respectively in the Grand Final which was streamed live on YouTube, Facebook, and Booyah TV, generating more than 1.4 million views. In total, the tournament, which began in December 2020, attracted 6,723,200 views with fans across the region watching the action live. 

Saadallah Djamel Eddine, captain of VIP ESPORTS, praised Garena for staging the Free Fire Arab League and is looking forward to testing themselves against the world’s best later this year.

He said: “I would like to thank Garena for this opportunity, and the commentators and organisers for their efforts. To become champions is huge in a tournament of this caliber. We promise our fans to give it our all and make MENA proud in the Free Fire World Series.”

Boumaraf Oussama, captain of runners-up DEA, is proud of how his team performed throughout the tournament. He said: “Our sincere gratitude goes to everyone at Garena for yet another successful Free Fire Arab League. As for our team, I am proud that we got to the Grand Finals, proving to everyone that we are the ones to watch.”

VIP captain, Ibrahim Abdul Ghafor Ibrahim, said that the event was a great learning experience and is determined his team will be even stronger next season.

He said: “Our team has shown the world our talent and capabilities by reaching the Grand Final stages. We fell short, but I promise our fans that we will do everything we can to win the title next season.”

The next edition of the Free Fire Arab League will take place between July and October with the participation of 24 teams – the 12 finalists from Season 3 and the top 12 sides from the inaugural Free Fire Arab Championship. The latter will have two seasons in 2021 in which matches will be held in five series’ spanned across one season. Teams will have to perform at their very best to accumulate enough points to get a position in the Top 12 at the end of the season.
