Need to travel during the COVID-19 outbreak? If you are 60 and above, it is better not to travel or at least delay your travel. The risk for severe illness from COVID-19 increases with age, with older adults at highest risk. Therefore, if you have to travel take the below precautions:
- Maintain a distance of 6 feet (2 meters) between you and others, and avoid contact with anyone who is sick
- Wash your hands frequently or use hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol, and limit contact with frequently touched surfaces, such as handrails, elevator buttons, etc.
- Wear a cloth face mask.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
- Clean your hands often, particularly after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after coughing, sneezing or blowing your nose.
- Be sure to wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds directly before and after going through screening at checkpoints.
- Follow the local travel instructions and precautions at airports and upon reaching your destination such as staying home for 14 days before contacting with others.
