Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, 8 May, 2025: As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional partnerships and promote a culture of human rights across the United Arab Emirates, the National Human Rights Institution (NHRI) conducted an introductory visit to the Ras Al Khaimah Police General Headquarters.
His Excellency Major General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police, received the NHRI delegation, which was led by NHRI Chairperson Maqsoud Kruse. The delegation also included NHRI Board of Trustees members Dr. Ahmed Al Mansoori, and Dr. Abdul Aziz Al Noman; H.E. Dr. Saeed Al Ghfeli, NHRI Secretary-General; Amro Al Qahtani, Director of the Chairperson’s Office; Abdulazeez Al Obthani, Head of International and Regional Organizations; Fatima Al Hosani, Head of the Awareness and Education Section; and Klaithem Al Kaabi from the Media Center.
The visit aimed to advance collaboration and enhance coordination between the two institutions in support of shared goals related to human rights and justice. During the meeting, the NHRI delegation outlined the Institution’s independent mandate and its core mission to promote and protect human rights.
Discussions highlighted the vital role of cooperation with police and security authorities in reinforcing the justice system and advancing humanitarian principles grounded in national legislation and aligned with international conventions.
H.E. Maqsoud Kruse emphasized that the visit forms part of the NHRI’s strategic outreach plan to engage with key national stakeholders and raise awareness among professionals in essential sectors about the Institution’s work and coordination frameworks. This effort, he noted, is integral to cultivating an institutional environment that respects and upholds human rights and freedoms.
The visit concluded with a tour of the Ras Al Khaimah Police General Headquarters facilities, where the NHRI delegation was briefed on best practices in community engagement and human rights protection within law enforcement processes.
