Beirut, Lebanon, 17 October 2019: Majid Al Futtaim, the leading shopping mall, communities, retail and leisure pioneer across the Middle East, Africa and Asia, launched the opening of the ‘T-Shirt Exhibition’ event at City Centre Beirut, a unique occasion in the world of fashion on October 4. The exhibition ran till October 13th highlighting the T-shirt, one of the most fashionable trends of our time, that suits all ages, tastes and social groups. The opening ceremony was attended by media professionals, influencers, shoppers, and mall management.
The exhibition took shape in the form of a huge metal museum model, highlighting the historical development of the t-shirt. This last went from being a simple undergarment to becoming in the sixties a symbol of what is known as the rock and roll musical revolution, contributing to intellectual changes affecting all areas of life, including fashion.
The T-shirt has become the fashion trend, the address of creativity, and the most popular means used to express personality, opinions and beliefs. The museum at City Centre housed a selection of t-shirts containing a variety of social and personal messages.
Serge Younan, Senior Mall Manager at Majid Al Futtaim – Properties, said: “City Centre Beirut is keen to organize unique and innovative events and activities that keep pace with the latest international fashion trends and satisfy customers of all ages, categories and tastes. T-shirt exhibition was not only an event to showcase T-Shirt’s latest innovations, but also an exhibition showcasing the T-Shirt’s history and how it has evolved into a way to express an opinion, belief, or issue. This exhibition underscores the status of City Centre Beirut as a leading destination for shopping and entertainment, which offers exceptional experiences and delivers the happiest moments for the whole family.”
The exhibition hosted a number of Lebanese designers including Triple F by Nour, House of Paisely, and H-shirt, that collaborated with prominent fashion influencers Ghina Ghandour, Rita Lamah and Dana Khairallah to exhibit and sell T-shirts. The money from these t-shirts went to Himaya, Basma, and Beirut El Baraka NGOs.
