Beirut May 24th, 2017: Waterfront city Dbayeh announced the winners of the photography competition “a photo worth taking”. The contest aimed at encouraging young talents to explore their creativity and share their personal interpretation of Dbayeh’s booming expansion or showcase the hidden gems of the Metn.
Mr Sarkis Mardorissian, the official representative of the Ministry of tourism praised Waterfront City’s efforts and thanked the jury members for giving the youth a platform for self-expression which resulted in snapshots reflecting the beauty of Lebanon in simple yet impactful images.
The awards ceremony held at Waterfront City Dbayeh sales centre was attended by Mr Sarkis Mardorissian representing the Ministry of tourism, Mr Kabalan el Ashkar, Dbayeh’s mayor, members of the jury composed of the film director Philippe Aractingi, Ms. Ibtissam Fawaz, Director of the photography division at the Ministry of Tourism, Ms. Corine el Ashkar representative of Dbayeh municipality, Architect Makram el Kadi founder of LEFT and Ms Ieva Saudergaite independent photographer in addition to photography enthusiasts, valued members of the press, cultural and social influencers as well as competition participants.
More than 200 entries were registered on the competition’s social media platform using the hashtags #LiveLoveDbayeh and #WaterfrontCity. All entries were united through a high artistic standard, aesthetic appeal and a clearly evident passion for the photographers’ craft and love for the area.

John Ward, project head Waterfront City Dbayeh stated that the competition mirrored the spirit of inclusion that is intrinsic to Lebanon in general and the Metn region in particular. It promoted a culture of geographic diversity manifested through the power of imagery that documents and archives the unique facets of place that are a precursor to Waterfront city Dbayeh’s vision of creating a fully integrated community built on sustainable practices where the precepts of living, playing and working are intrinsic to the project and will provide great moments for everyone.
Waterfront City is a joint venture between Majid Al Futtaim & Joseph Khoury both leaders in their fields.

Ms Corine Ashkar, representative of the Dbayeh municipality, expressed her support for Waterfront City Dbayeh and this competition which are aligned with the municipality primary ambition of sustainable development and shedding light on the hidden gems of Dbayeh.
We endorse these beautiful photography collection that captured the beauty of Dbayeh, She added, we recommend its showcase in public institutions and later usage as a traveling exhibition through postage stamps which act as Lebanon’s passport to the world.
The winners
The awards ceremony ended with Film Director Philippe Aractingi and jury members announcing the competition winners being Mr. Jo Matar for best picture of Waterfront city and Mr. Michel Khoury for best picture of Dbayeh winning each valuable cash prizes of $3,000 and $2,000 respectively
Certificates of participation and recognition distributed to all participants followed by group pictures
