Teach a Child strives to remove financial barriers to enrol underprivileged children in public schools regardless of gender, religion or academic performance while lobbying for compulsory education and providing access to higher education at universities and vocational schools.
During the dinner party, old and new donors & sponsors alike showed their support for this meaningful mission. In 2011, Teach a Child began by enrolling 105 students in 9 schools. Today, the NGO successfully enrols 1311 students in 175 schools across Lebanon including 1231 students in public schools and high schools, 51 in vocational schools and 29 in universities. The financial support covers school & university registration fees, books and stationery, school uniforms and transportation.
Members of Teach a Child strongly believe that “Education is the most powerful mean to improve children’s lives, it is a responsibility that society owes to itself”. They assert that their achievements wouldn’t have been possible without the generous support of their sponsors and contributors, as they have allowed them to provide a brighter future for underprivileged children and their families, increasing the number of children helped year after year.
Teach a Child currently covers the North, Bekaa, Nabatieh, South, Beirut, and Mount Lebanon, but is also keen to expand geographically to reach more and more children in need. In addition to empowering individual students, Teach a Child wants to enrich the learning experience of entire communities of students hence the NGO is committed to funding projects that provide public schools with better premises, equipment and technology. Education is a right and is vital for social and economical development and this is why Teach a Child pledges to continue being very active. This annual dinner is proof that people care and this cause matters.
