Dubai, 9th August 2017: Nestlé Middle East is commemorating International Youth Day with an update on various Nestlé Needs YOUth initiatives, impacting more than 5,000 young people across the region in 2016. Through this, the Company continues to meet its commitment to Foster Career Opportunities for Youth in the Middle East, where over one third of its employees are under 30 years old.
“We are proud to report that we hired 430 youth across the region in 2016 alone, bringing the total number to over 2,000 since 2010,” said Karine Antoniades, Creating Shared Value Manager at Nestlé Middle East. “In addition, our actions go beyond offering jobs to strengthening and developing skills and employability, which we do through several initiatives including readiness for work events, internships, career advising, the Graduate Development Program, and the Nestlé Center of Excellence.”
“We also aim to amplify our impact through collaborations, which is why we launched the Alliance for Youth in May 2016 to bring together entities that share our objective of tackling the region’s 27% unemployment rate,” added Antoniades. “Together with our nine Alliance partners, we are well on our way to collectively hiring 3,000 young people and impacting 50,000 across the region by 2020.”
“All 4 Youth” also includes Bosch, Emaar, UAE’s General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare, Engie, LinkedIn, L’Oréal, Mohebi, Neilson and Publicis Middle East.
Launched by the United Nations in 1999, International Youth Day is observed annually on August 12. It is meant as an opportunity for governments and others to draw attention to youth issues worldwide, involving concerts, workshops, cultural events, and meetings.
