Beirut, June 21, 2018: LG Electronics (LG), a global leader and technology innovator, supplied the Ministry of Energy and Water (MoEW) with LG photovoltaic (PV) solar panels which were implemented by ECOsys. The inauguration ceremony at the MoEW, was under the patronage of the Minister of Energy and Water, Cesar Abi Khalil, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gebran Bassil, and in presence of LG Lebanon and Syria Country Manager Igeun Kwack, and General Manager of ECOsys, Georges Geha.
The solar system covered the rooftop of the Ministry’s building in Corniche Al Nahr, with a total capacity of 135kWp. LG was keen on being a partner in this solar project due to the importance of the MoEW as a reference site in highlighting LG’s high efficiency solar panels.
LG Lebanon and Syria Country Manager, Igeun Kwack, commented on this occasion saying, “Working with the MoEW comes as a strategic move for LG which falls under its promotion of renewable energy. Supplying the MoEW with the PV solar panels is an opportunity for LG to test and prove the high efficiency panels it offers which will save a substantial percentage of the energy cost at the MoEW building.”
On his part, General Manager of ECOsys, Georges Geha, said, “Leading by quality and expertise is our motto, we’re striving to maintain a challenging business growth without compromising on quality, in a competitive market. We’re proud of our partnership with LG. LG high efficiency panels, and KACO New Energy high efficiency inverters, have been the key for success in this project.”
LG and ECOsys won the tender of this project back in [April 2017], with a total capacity of 135kWp, and a yearly energy production of 200MWh, which is a very high capacity in comparison with the occupied area. The main pillar of this capacity is the high efficiency of the LG NeON 2 330W PV panels which is 19.3 and are capable of absorbing rays from any angle.
Closing the event, Kwack and Geha presented an appreciation trophy to Minister Abi khalil and to the director of the Lebanese Center of Energy Conservation (LCEC), Pierre Khoury. LCEC is the leading supporter of renewable energy projects in Lebanon that encourages and incentivizes the private sector in adopting renewable energy.
The system is fully operational, and is expected to produce 198.891 MWh of energy yearly, leading to a total saving of 130.16 tons of CO2 per year. LG is proud to have won this tender with its highest efficiency solar panels (19.3) and installing them at the MoEW with real time testing.
