Movie lovers, filmmakers, directors, film students hear us out! The event of the season is here and it’s for you! The Lebanese Independent Film Festival “LIFF Official” with the partnership of “A Night of Misfit Films” is a festival born in Lebanon aiming to encourage independent filmmakers to innovate and challenge the local movie scene. More than 250 local and international films from 20 countries will be screened at Metropolis, Sofil- Achrafieh on July 12, 13 & 14. We promise you an atmosphere of fun, diversity, unity and cultural richness over a weekend like no other in Lebanon; the land of diversity. July 12- 7:00 PM is the magical date to meet up with your favorite celebrities, cinematographers, worldwide directors, filmmakers and movie critics. Lock it in and come spend some time with us! Wait there’s more… A student’s competition was launched among universities across Lebanon and LIFF Official is expecting eight short films to be screened on the opening night of the festival. The prize for “male hope award” and “female hope award” will be given to the winners by our distinctively selected jury: Talented actresses Rita Hayek and Christine Choueiri who have made it to the international scene. Young stars who are breaking boundaries in Lebanese films; Wissam Saliba and Elias Zayek along with prominent presenter & producer Chady Richa. Also, Muriel Aboulrouss and Denise Jabbour the multiple award winning filmmakers of the documentary “zyara”; the instructor, lecturer and performing artist Rita Barotta. In addition to the comedian Wissam Kamal who will add a fun flair to our jury selection. Influential movie critic, Anis Tabet and opinion leader & verbal advocate for film censorship, Gino Raidy. Lastly, American actress and filmmaker Dineta Williams-Trigg. Screening of films for independent filmmakers from different parts of the world will resume on the nights of July 13 & 14 with the announcement of the winners on the closing ceremony.
