- GROHE parent, LIXIL, is committed to improving access to safe sanitary facilities worldwide
- Poor sanitation is linked to the transmission of diseases
- World Toilet Day on 19 November shows the way forward
While many people are unaware of World Toilet Day and may be surprised to hear that it actually exists, it is all about a serious issue. The United Nations initiated this day to raise awareness of the importance of sanitary facilities in the fight against diseases and poor hygiene. About 2.4 billion, i.e. one in three, people have no access to safe and clean toilets. As the global market leader in sanitary products, GROHE’s parent company, LIXIL, leverages its professional expertise to help give millions of people across the globe access to hygienic sanitary facilities. The near-term objective is to make better sanitary facilities available to some 100 million people by 2020.
GROHE supports this unique and life-saving commitment. “We are proud to make an important social contribution as a member of LIXIL Group Corporation and will take action to ensure that people all over the world understand the importance and positive effects of safe sanitary facilities,” says Michael Rauterkus, CEO of Grohe AG. LIXIL and GROHE share values such as responsibility and sustainability. As part of LIXIL, GROHE feels committed to mastering the challenge of improving sanitation around the world as well. LIXIL and by association GROHE want to bring about a safer future for people. Therefore, they work to develop sustainable and hygienic solutions and products, which prevent the transmission and spreading of diseases. This vitally important commitment will be highlighted worldwide on 19 November.
