Beirut, 28 March 2017: Elysée WISE hosted an inauguration ceremony at Le Royal hotel to celebrate the opening of its new piping manufacturing unit in Gherfine, Byblos under the patronage and in the presence of the Industry Minister, Dr. Hussein Hajj Hassan. The unit was established through a joint venture with Elysée, the largest manufacturer of polyethylene pipes and accessories which are suitable for drinking water as well as other industrial and commercial uses. Participating in the event were Mrs. Roula El Khoury, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors Elysée WISE, Mrs. Nadine El Khoury, Partner and Business Development Manager, Mr. Panos Protopapas, Elysee’s General Manager, a delegation of Cypriot businessmen, a crowd of Lebanon’s most prominent economic and industrial experts, professionals from different sectors, company representatives, civil society institutions as well as the members of the press and the media.
The manufacturing unit can now be found in Gherfine, Byblos thus allowing the manufacturing of pipes in Lebanon instead of Cyprus. This significantly reduces operational costs and creates a substantial amount of job opportunities for the unemployed in Lebanon.
The factory is currently involved in manufacturing and supplying an exclusive wide range of quality assured polyethylene pipes available in different dimensions. The quality is carefully evaluated at every single stage of production in order to ensure the provisions of plastic pipes of excellent value. It is worth mentioning that Elysée WISE’s pipes fully conform to International hygiene and sanitary requirements that are indicated by the standard BS6920.
Minister Hussein Hajj Hassan believes that opening a new factory in the given circumstances is a grand and bold move. He said, “It is important that a Lebanese company has a partnership with a Cypriot company, which is part of the European Union, enjoys Europeans qualities and aspires to be part of the global market. This partnership is not only on a financial level, but also on a technical, creative and knowledge-based level, which is known as “transfer de technologie”. This is a very important issue, and a pillar in our policies at the Ministry of Industry, which is the ability to bring in the know-how from foreign countries.”
Hajj Hassan hoped that this manufacturing unit will be a quality addition to the Lebanese industry and that competition will be achieved on the level of quality, durability and specificities within the local industry itself and between the importing and exporting foreign industries. He also pointed out that the manufacturing industry is the basis of GDP in any country in the world. Hajj Hassan promised to relentlessly continue to demand the protection of the industry and agriculture in Lebanon in order to increase exports, reduce imports and protect national production in every way possible. This he stated will definitely lead to security as well as economic, political and social stability.
Mrs. Roula El Khoury, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors Elysée WISE, thanked the Minister Hussein Hajj Hassan for his interest in Lebanon’s industrial sector and for supporting the ceremony, expressing her deep faith in the new procedures that are designed to protect the national industry in all its sectors. She emphasized the importance of inaugurating the production lines in the new factory saying, “We would like to extend our gratitude to Elysée Cyprus that collaborated with us to make the establishment of a factory in Lebanon possible. Our goal is to provide a Lebanese-made industry product with the highest standards of quality, and to contribute to the support and development of the industrial sector, given its integral role in the country’s economic recovery.
