CMA CGM, leading worldwide shipping company, and ESA (Ecole Supérieure des Affaires), leading higher education school, announced on Monday November 13th the launching of a specialized program in “Shipping and Logistics”, in partnership with IPER (Port Institute for Education and Research) at the ESA campus in Beirut, in the presence of CMA CGM and ESA officials. A Memorandum of Understanding for this purpose was signed on July 10th 2017.
Thanks to this new program, the first session of which starts on January 24th, 2018, CMA CGM Group employees in Lebanon and in the region, as well as ESA students, will benefit from an excellent training in Shipping and Logistics, in addition to Management, and all other functions of the company.
This comprehensive program, which is delivered entirely in English, consists of four different modules on the principles of the economy and maritime transport, maritime law and the supply chain, as well as a specific module dedicated to the Port of Le Havre (management of container terminals, customs and information systems) and aims to:
- meet the development needs of CMA CGM in Lebanon and the Middle East by strengthening the expertise of Group employees
- strengthen the Group’s global network led by teams trained in management and mastering all the modalities of the transport and logistics chain
This excellent program is based on:
- ESA’s expertise in managerial management and finance, areas in which the School is recognized worldwide for its ability to train executives and leaders in Lebanon and the Middle East.
- CMA CGM’s expertise in the transportation of goods and the management of the entire supply chain. Group experts will also share their expertise and experience in one-off seminars.
The Group puts employee training as one of its priorities. This is now reinforced with the establishment of this new training program in Lebanon, a strategic country for the development of shipping in the Middle East.
“We are very excited about this big step” expressed Joseph Dakkak, General Manager of CMA CGM in Lebanon. “We believe that the shipping business is an important as well as an exciting one; this new program will serve in spreading the shipping know-how to the new generation who is eager to learn and explore beyond the conventional limits. This will also help in bridging the gap in our industry needs.”
“The launching of this Certificate is a further step in the partnership between CMA CGM and ESA, a partnership that has been existing for many years and that aims at improving and spreading the knowledge and skills needed in the shipping business”, stated Stéphane Attali, General Manager of ESA Business School. “As a Business School, it is our responsibility to train the leaders of tomorrow and to support the growth of large international groups rooted in Lebanon and France, such as CMA CGM ”, he added.
