Beirut, Lebanon, October 18, 2016: City Centre Beirut – member of Majid Al Futtaim, the leading shopping mall, retail and leisure pioneer across the Middle East and North Africa –in partnership with Saint George Hospital Beirut, launched in Lebanon its regional health awareness campaign “Feel the Beat”. The press conference gathered media representatives, social influencers and members from Saint George Hospital University Medical Center administration and doctors.
Mr. Sleiman Mallat, Senior Mall Manager – City Centre Beirut stated: “We are committed to building awareness around heart health while motivating women across the region to maintain a healthy lifestyle, work out, eat and sleep well. We partnered up with Saint George Hospital University Medical Center this year whose professional team of Doctors was present on-site to provide the essential tests and reports”.
Mr. Ziad Kamel, representing Saint George Hospital saluted this brave regional initiative launched by Majid Al Futtaim Group and expressed the hospital’s full support for “Feel the Beat” campaign. Afterwards, Dr. Fadi Abou Jaoudeh, Cardiologist and Head of the Cardiac Department gave a speech highlighting the importance of early screenings that aim at saving lives.
Mrs. Lina Moukheiber, Director of Development at Saint George Hospital University Medical Center, expressed her concern saying: “One woman dies of a heart attack every 80 seconds in the world, a large number that we cannot neglect; therefore, prevention is key, especially that 80% of strokes and heart diseases may be avoided if we bring few changes in our lifestyle. We thank City Centre Beirut for shedding light on this topic year after year and for giving us the opportunity to take part of the “Feel the Beat” campaign this year and for extending healthy precautionary tips.”
For the 4th year in a row and over three consecutive days starting September 29, City Centre Beirut welcomed a team of medical professionals from Saint George Hospital University Medical Center to administer complimentary testing and conduct checkups for women, aiming to raise awareness on cardiovascular health. Visitors could check their blood pressure, blood sugar and Body Mass Index (BMI) to determine if they are at risk for heart diseases and if they should need follow-ups with more extensive examinations.
Last year, more than 8,000 women participated in Majid Al Futtaim’s “Feel the Beat” regional health awareness campaign. As for this year, City Centre Beirut was able to screen up to 700 customers in this campaign and Saint George Hospital University Medical Center performed 1,094 tests in total during these 3 days.
