Building on the success of Nomad Monaco, Carwan Gallery is happy to announce its participation in Nomad St. Moritz, the second edition of the travelling showcase for collectible design. Nomad St. Moritz will take place on February 2018 at Chesa Planta, the prestigious mansion in the heart of the Swiss Alps. Carwan will be showing select pieces and new works, some of which are previewed below, by Mary-Lynn Massoud and Rasha Nawam, Oeuffice, Massimo Micheluzzi, Georges Mohasseb, Sigve Knutson, Taher Asad-Bakhtiari and Lindsey Adelman.
E11, E9, E18 and E3, Unique Works, Ceramic and Mixed Material, Mary-Lynn Massoud and Rasha Nawam, 2017
Mary-Lynn Massoud trained in ceramics at La Manufacture de Sèvres in France, after completing her university studies, and has been working and teaching ceramics in Beirut since. Rasha Nawam is a graduate of the American University of Beirut and studied ceramics in Lebanon and in the U.S. . Mary-Lynn and Rasha have been collaborating since 2007, creating whimsical and sculptural ceramic works that have been presented in a number of solo and group exhibitions in New York, Paris, Dubai, Basel, Milan, Monaco and Beirut.
Thick-walled Iridescent Vessel, Unique, Murano Glass, Massimo Micheluzzi, 2017
Born in Venice in 1957, Massimo Micheluzzi studied art history at Ca’ Foscari, the University of Venice. In 1993 he was introduced to the world of glass by the Venini family, whom he also collaborated with. Within a few years, he was producing works of his own. Micheluzzi uses traditional techniques to achieve a uniquely modern aesthetic. He is one of very few contemporary Muranese artists to successfully employ classic murrina and battuto techniques for a disciplined, sober vision. Massimo has exhibited in cities all over the world, including Paris, New York, London, Rotterdam, and Kanazawa, Japan.
Cluster Sculpture, Unique, Terracotta, Sigve Knutson, 2018
Sigve Knutson is an experimental designer based between Oslo and Eindhoven. He obtained an MA in Contextual Design at the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2016. Sigve digests the world around him via his drawings, which set the precedent for his design process. He then creates his objects using specific methods and material combinations, involving no manufacturers, in the same intuitive and spontaneous way that he draws.
