Beirut, 28th of September 2017 – BOSHIES™, the neo oriental clothing brand, creator of the modern and unisex tarboosh, launched a crowdfunding campaign on indiegogo.com to raise $25’000. The campaign will last 30 days.
The funds raised will enable BOSHIES™ to fulfill two objectives:
- To import to Lebanon the Italian know-how in the manufacturing of hats,
- To expand its line of apparel.
In return for their contribution, the backers will receive a Boshie hat, a wool beanie, or a t-shirt from the brand’s collection.
On the day of the launching of its campaign, BOSHIES™ held an open event to the public in the venue of AR_KA, in the neighborhood of Mar Mikhael, in Beirut. For this occasion, the brand broadcasted the video of its campaign and presented its line of apparel as well as a presentation of the history of the tarboosh. Tablets were made available to the attendees to encourage them to contribute to the crowdfunding of the brand. Among the donors, a happy winner was selected by drawing and won two roundtrip airplane tickets to Istanbul, curtesy of the Golden Ticket Agency.”
The event at AR_KA was sponsored by SGBL, with the participation of the caterer Keyrouz Bakery, of Domaine des Tourelles for wine and arak and Castania for nuts and dry fruits.

The fashion brand BOSHIES™ was founded in 2016 in Beirut by a Lebanese entrepreneur, Elias El Haddad. In 2017, Diane Ferjane, fashion designer, joins BOSHIES’ team. The brand’s mission is to reinvent Middle Eastern casual wear, by a line of clothing that is at the same time, affordable, unisex, and modern. The first product of the brand was the Boshie hat, a contemporary version of the tarboosh formerly worn by the Turks and Arabs. Made of felt of different colors, with a rounded top, and more flexible than its ancestor, the Boshie has a sewn line on each side of the hat reminiscent of the tarboosh’s traditional tassel. The Boshie also exists in a wool cap version for the winter.
Created just 1 year ago, the brand BOSHIES® has already generated quite the buzz in Lebanon and in other countries. The Boshie hat has been worn by international and regional stars like Mika, Rabih Kayrouz, Stéphane Rolland and Carmen Bsaibes.
