Spirotech Aberdeen, a bulk handling, fabrication and blast containment specialist for the oil and gas sector, has been acquired by a team of industry experts and renamed Spiral Services.
CEO and investor Neil Thomson led the acquisition which will see the company continue to operate in Dyce, Aberdeen under the new name of Spiral Services with the existing team including Kris Hunter as General Manager. Currently the team includes 8 staff with plans to expand to 16 during 2020.
Alongside Mr Thomson, the acquisition is the first co-investment by Garrick Group, a team of specialists supporting growing businesses in the energy sector. Founded by Ronnie Garrick, Douglas Garrick and Davie Garrick, the team will provide non-executive support and reinforce the existing industry track record driving the new business.
Mr Thomson said: “I am delighted to have finalised the acquisition of Spirotech Aberdeen and look forward to the growth ahead for the new business Spiral Services. With Neil as CEO, the company is already introducing new service lines including the recent Blast Control european agency agreement with plans to develop further services as Spiral Services moves forward.

Spiral Services, formerly Spirotech Aberdeen, was launched in Aberdeen in 2017 as part of parent company Spirotech-SRD. The firm has built a reputation for excellence in design, manufacture and testing of screw conveyors, pressure vessels, blast curtains and chemical holding tanks.
Garrick Group is focused on supporting growing businesses in the offshore and onshore sector at board level, specifically those with export strategies and plans for growth.
