Around 2,000 participants contributed in turning this event into the sporty, bucolic and relaxed reunion it has become, where runners, walkers and families converge into an exceptional setting to support Myschoolpulse’s action.
Myschoolpulse, founded by Mireille Nassif and Danièle Diab, brings school to hospital to sick children stricken by cancer or other serious illnesses.
The race took place in Faqra and ended with the medal ceremony during which the ambassadors of Myschoolpulse, from the world of sport and cinema, took part. Medals and gifts were then awarded to 5K winners in twelve age categories and to 1K winners in two age categories. Congratulations to our overall 5K winners Rachem Baghdad (16’45”) and Nadia Nehme (22’20”).
Runners praised the NGO for the outstanding technical organization of the races. Myschoolpulse extends special thanks to those without whom the high standards of the event would not have been reached: Faqra Club, the Beirut Marathon Association, the Lebanese Athletics Federation, and all the generous sponsors.
This event took place in the presence of many business leaders and civil society representatives.
See you on Sunday August 2, 2020 for the 11th edition of the race!
583 CHILDREN SCHOOLED IN FIVE HOSPITALS
Myschoolpulse’s hospital school program is available at five hospitals in Lebanon. To date, Myschoolpulse offered around 30,000 hours of tutoring lessons for 583 sick children. Tutoring sessions are instructed by experienced teachers and typically take place at the children’s bedside in their hospital room. Bringing school to hospital allows the hospitalized children to resume normal schooling while undergoing their long medical treatments that usually prevent them from going to school.
Myschoolpulse’s action has had a significant impact on the academic development of sick children with 92% of them passing to the upper level in June 2019, some of whom with honors!
The children’s schooling reconnects them to normality and detaches them a little from their battle against illness, thus keeping alive their hope of regained perspectives.
