Beirut – Lebanon
CARE International in Lebanon, in collaboration with CARE Czech Republic (CARE CZ) and with funding from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, has launched a digital awareness campaign titled #Dignity_Without_Compromise. This initiative aims to raise awareness regarding protection principles in humanitarian action and highlight key themes such as the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), food security, safe shelter, and cash assistance—all based on one fundamental principle: human dignity and rights are neither negotiable nor conditional.
In the face of growing humanitarian challenges in Lebanon, CARE has adopted an approach centered on human storytelling that resonates with people’s lived realities. This method seeks to overcome the “information fatigue” often felt by the public and foster authentic engagement around core messages of rights, safety, and accountability.
As part of this campaign, CARE collaborated with Lebanese journalist and host Nisrine Zawahra, renowned in the Lebanese and Arab media landscape for her professionalism and integrity. This partnership has helped expand the reach of the campaign’s messages and bolster trust in the content shared, particularly regarding sensitive issues related to protection and rights.
The campaign also featured the participation of Nadira Samaha, a sign language expert and a woman living with a hearing impairment, underscoring CARE’s commitment to inclusion and information accessibility. This involvement ensures that awareness messages reach the deaf and hard-of-hearing community while strengthening their representation in public campaigns.
Key Campaign Content
The campaign consists of five integrated video segments addressing critical themes, including:
• The Importance of Consent: A fundamental element in the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse.
• Safe Housing: The necessity of secure shelter for women and girls, and the role of cash assistance in improving living conditions.
• Food Security: The impact of food insecurity and the vital role of cash assistance for nutrition.
• Accountability Mechanisms: Promoting safe reporting channels, specifically the 1745 helpline, as a reliable way to file complaints and seek support.
Impact and Reach
The campaign has generated significant and widespread engagement. Several videos have surpassed 200,000 organic views and have been widely shared by medical professionals, sign language experts, media institutions, artists, and public figures across Lebanon and the region.
CARE International in Lebanon reaffirms that the #Dignity_Without_Compromise campaign is part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening accountability, protecting beneficiaries, and ensuring that humanitarian aid is delivered with dignity, safety, and without any conditions or trade-offs.
