Beirut, 14th of April 2020: On Monday the 13th of April, the LAU Mobile Clinic Service launched by the LAU Gilbert and Rose-Marie Chagoury School of Medicine and the LAU Medical Center–Rizk Hospital visited Qoubaiyat, another rural region in Akkar Lebanon, to provide free PCR tests offered by RDCL World, for patients suspected of being infected with COVID-19.
This noble initiative that was launched amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, aims at visiting rural regions in Lebanon and offering free PCR tests for people who are unable to afford it and who do not benefit from a social security coverage or any health insurance, thus leaving no one behind and offering medical services to even the most remote areas in the country.
The northern visit was led by Dr. Jacques Mokhbat, Professor & Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine at the LAU School of Medicine and Head of Infectious Diseases and Microbiology at LAU Medical Center–Rizk Hospital and his medical team.
Two prior visits were successfully accomplished: the 1st being in Nabatieh Government Hospital on Saturday April 4th and the 2nd to the Crisis Cell of Tripoli Municipality on Saturday April 9th and to the Centre Hospitalier Du Nord in Zgharta on that same day.
This initiative truly testifies of the commitment of the LAU Medical Center–Rizk Hospital to its mission of “Healing with Compassion”, a value that is in desperate need and that is highly appreciated during these unprecedented challenging times.
