Dubai, UAE – 08 October 2024: Pfizer is bringing new hope for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) patients in the UAE through its first and only approved oral treatment following the successful inaugural launch in the US.
Metastatic CRPC is a form of prostate cancer that has spread beyond the prostate gland and has progressed despite medical or surgical treatment to lower testosterone. Approximately 10-20 percent of patients with prostate cancer develop mCRPC within 5-7 years of diagnosis.[i]
Commenting on the approval of this new treatment in the UAE, Dr Syed Hammad Tirmazy, Consultant Oncologist and Head of Oncology, Dubai Hospital, UAE, said: “While great progress has been made in the treatment of metastatic CRPC over the last decade, it remains the fifth most common cause of cancer death among men globally.
