Dubai, UAE, 30 September 2025 – The Orbis Flying Eye Hospital, the world’s only fully accredited ophthalmic teaching hospital on board an aircraft, hosted an exclusive media event today in partnership with Swiss watchmaker OMEGA.
Held at the JetEx terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport, the event invited media to step aboard the aircraft and experience its state-of-the-art facilities, where Orbis doctors and specialists train local eye care teams and provide life-changing treatment. Guests had the opportunity to see how Orbis International, a global nonprofit dedicated to addressing avoidable blindness and vision loss, is working to ensure access to quality eye care worldwide.
The event marked the beginning of the Flying Eye Hospital’s goodwill visit to Dubai, which will continue until 3 October. The visit underscores the region’s growing role as a hub for healthcare innovation and collaboration and demonstrates its commitment to supporting international initiatives that improve lives far beyond its borders.
OMEGA has been a proud partner of Orbis since 2011, supporting its mission through funding, awareness, and advocacy. This collaboration has helped expand the reach of the Flying Eye Hospital and has transformed countless lives in communities where access to treatment is limited.
With every landing, the Flying Eye Hospital not only delivers critical treatment, but leaves behind knowledge and skills that empower local communities long after the plane has departed.
