Hôpital Français du Levant is entering a new era of medical advancement, performing a series of exceptional surgical and interventional procedures under the direct supervision of Dr. Antoine Maalouf, in collaboration with IRCAD, the world-renowned center for minimally invasive and robotic surgery.
This initiative reinforces Lebanon’s position on the global medical map by bringing the latest techniques and expertise to Beirut, allowing patients to access cutting-edge treatments that previously required travel to international centers of excellence.
In this context, Pr. Luca Theuil led a series of complex robotic gastrointestinal surgeries, including Robotic Duodenectomy with Roux-en-Y Gastro-jejunostomy, Robotic Whipple’s Procedure, and Robotic Right Colectomy using a new Bottom-Up technique. These procedures are among the most intricate in digestive surgery and demonstrate the hospital’s advanced technological capabilities and surgical expertise.
Additionally, the hospital conducted highly precise therapeutic interventional procedures under the leadership of Pr. Julien Frandon, assisted by Dr. Ali Abdallah, Dr. Joseph Abou Jaoude, and Dr. Ziad Nghaiwi. These included double biliary drainage with internal stent placement and endoluminal biliary radiofrequency treatment for unresectable Klatskin tumors, direct percutaneous intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (DIPS) for portal vein repermeabilization, and transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPSS). These advanced interventions offer solutions for complex cases that previously required patients to seek treatment abroad.
