Beirut, Lebanon – April 1st, 2019 – Hilton Beirut Habtoor Grand & Hilton Beirut Metropolitan Palace celebrated Earth Day by turning off the hotel’s external lights and unnecessary internal ones for an entire hour, while corridors, outlets and lobbies’ lighting was dimmed to the minimal level. The hotel is taking action locally to help cut its environmental footprint in half, from water stewardship and energy conservation to reducing waste and leading community projects.
“Celebrating Earth Hour is one of the many ways we demonstrate how we conserve waste, water and energy every day, and we are encouraging our guests and neighbors to join us in support of this global effort,” said Naif Zureikat, Cluster General Manager, Hilton Beirut Habtoor Grand and Hilton Beirut Metropolitan Palace.
Team Members and Guests at Hilton Beirut Habtoor Grand and Hilton Beirut Metropolitan Palace will also celebrate Earth Week through the following activities: Energy-saving activities throughout the month include reducing plastic waste in offices by replacing all plastic cups with glass ones, reducing food waste in the staff canteen by organizing a ‘no bin day’ once a week, installing special water saving devices in all guest bathroom faucets to reduce water consumption by 30%. And last but not least, 10 kilos of used hotel soaps will be reprocessed into fresh bars for distribution in local communities in partnership with The Society of Saint Vincent De Paul Charity (SSVP).
