Beirut, September 27, 2016: Recognized for its keenness to be socially responsible towards the community, Bank of Beirut has established an exclusive partnership with the Lebanese Red Cross, thus making it the key financial institution supporting the Red cross and empowering its humanitarian mission through generous donations to support its emergency response operations and organizational development, conducive to saving more lives and to creating a better society.
In this respect, the President of the Lebanese Red Cross and Bank of Beirut Chairman-CEO held a press conference on September 27th, 2016 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beirut, to announce the launch of their exclusive 2-year partnership. The event was attended by regional media representatives, the press, celebrities from both the social and business circles as well representatives from both institutions.
This partnership reflects the collaboration between two highly reputed institutions to improve the lives of individuals by providing better and more sustainable emergency response services. Bank of Beirut’s generosity reflects a social responsibility towards strengthening the Lebanese Red Cross, under the slogan of “Banking for Good”.
In this regard, several initiatives were launched by the Bank to encourage its customers and other individuals to support the Lebanese Red Cross: “The Personal Loan” whereby borrowers may opt to donate a certain amount of their choice to the benefit of the Lebanese Red Cross; “Donate the Change”, an initiative program whereby clients can round- up the amounts paid with their credit and debit cards and donate the difference to the Lebanese Red Cross; “the Loyalty program”, by means of which customers may donate their cashback points to the benefit of the Red Cross, and finally the Bank’s “Call center” and “ATMs” whereby customers and non-customers will be able to make donations to the Red cross.
During the press conference, Dr. Salim Sfeir, Chairman and CEO of Bank of Beirut, addressed the audience stating, “Our meeting today has a profound humanitarian and social value, since it brings together Bank of Beirut with an organization whose main goal is to serve the most vulnerable in their time of greatest need and without any discrimination.”
He also added “Through this exclusive partnership with the Lebanese Red Cross, Bank of Beirut will continue to play its role in serving the society responsibly. Congratulations on this partnership, which will reflect positively on our society. ”
In addition, the Lebanese Red Cross President, Dr. Antoine Zoghbi stated that “The Lebanese Red Cross is pleased to announce its first key corporate partnership with a financial institution. This is part of the organization’s new efforts to scale up and improve its capacities by seeking wider local support for its key services, especially its free and nation-wide ambulance services and blood transfusion services. We will not be able to achieve the ambitious objectives of the Lebanese Red Cross without the support of all segments of the Lebanese society.
This exclusive partnership with the largest Lebanese independent and volunteer-based humanitarian organization highlights once again Bank of Beirut’s dynamic involvement in the community and its quest to improve its citizens’ welfare. Bank of Beirut is looking forward to the realization of numerous projects and tangible contributions to support the Lebanese Red Cross in its sacred humanitarian mission over the next two-year period.
