In the midst of chaos and instability, as Lebanese youth are escaping the situation, part of the remaining talents are defying the odds and following their dreams in their homeland no matter what it takes!
Carmen Bou Zeid, 26, decided to follow her passion and launch her own fashion label, ‘Carmen The Studio’, a brand ethically produced in Beirut and works with local talents.
Carmen was inspired by two factors. Her mother’s long-lasting pieces that were passed down to her from the 80’s still in great condition; and women’s unique bodies and their need to have pieces that fit them perfectly.
“Growing up, I’ve always been a curvy girl. I learned how to love my curves and embrace my body. However, I noticed that whenever I went shopping, I never found the perfect fit that makes me look and feel my best. I was also fascinated by the pieces my mother used to wear when she was in her 20’s and passed them down to me, still in great condition and can be styled in many ways.” Carmen said
The brand takes a sustainable approach by encouraging women to get a few great staple pieces that can be worn for years and styled differently for many occasions.
Carmen also focuses on creating pieces with different fits while having in mind that each woman has a unique body shape and wants to highlight her best features.
Finally, Carmen wants her brand to be a community where women feel confident, empowered and free of any unrealistic standards that people are being faced with in today’s world.
