Fragility and strength: the GIADA Fall/Winter 2022 collection flows in harmony with the personality of a woman who, like a flower among the rocks, is both delicate and strong, evanescent and present. Expanding the brand’s signature language of soulful, vibrant simplicity, Gabriele Colangelo finds sensual nuances to it, keeping concision of line and luxury of texture as defining traits.
Stones and minerals are part of the GIADA world. They stand for a connection with nature, for harmony with the environment, and timelessness. Imagining the sublime breath of volcanic landscapes under the crisp northern light, this season Colangelo took the burnt colors and rocky surfaces and mixed them with the gradient waves and warm hues of horn, imagining lines that are both neat and sinuous, strict and revealing, and distinctively warm in feeling.
The silhouette is vertical, either long and flowing or short and revealing. Jackets with square necklines are worn as short dresses with oversized turtlenecks wrapping the shoulders like capes. Dresses move on the bias, flowing in asymmetric capes, opening up in plunging necklines on the back. Coats dematerialize in liquid printed panels. Belts mark the waist, highlighting the sense of verticality. Bare shoulders express a fragility that is counterbalanced by sharp cuts and a certain firmness, while plays of transparencies add another layer of delicacy.
Colors flow organically, mixing warm notes of amber, lava and white with tones of agate gray, hints of mineral blue and black. Textures give tactile depth to the palette: cashmere, wool, froissè organza, silk.
Fragility and strength carry in the jewels and accessories: necklaces and earrings made with horn elements and irregular pearls; irregular chains as belts or bag straps on soft, capacious totes; clutch bags with the prismatic cut of crystals. Open back shoes have horn or metal heels.
A new sensuality arises, with the soft touch that is quintessentially GIADA.
