As part of the UNESCO’s project on “Advocacy for Quality Physical Education (QPE) in the Arab region”, Chabibeh Sporting Club organized a national sports day on its premises in Chiah. The activity included four workshops with a main aim to raise awareness on and advocate for Quality Physical Education. A group of 70 young women and men, students majoring in physical education or sports management and youth community leaders participated in the event.
Challenges and opportunities to promote the wellbeing of all ages, the inclusion of persons with disabilities (PWD), skills development and communication to promote social cohesion were addressed in 4 sessions facilitated by a group of 4 experienced coaches and athletes, and sports for development experts.
Charbel Nemer, (23-year-old sports trainer from Hadath, with a BA in physical education from Antonine university), said after the event: “It was very interesting to learn new means to advocate for sports and exercises among the elderly and the persons with disabilities especially in the time of the pandemic”.
Nora Nasser (33 years old health counselor from Jeb Jennine) said: “I found the good practices to motivate teamwork very useful and applicable to my work with young people.”
