- GROHE is nominated in the transformation field “resources”
- The nomination serves as an incentive to press ahead with the conservation of resources
- GROHE has already saved 21 million plastic packages with the Less Plastic Initiative
Beirut, 12 of October 2020. GROHE has convinced the jury once again and is among the five companies in the transformation field “resources” to be a finalist for the German Sustainability Award 2021. The German Sustainability Award was further developed with the aim of aligning the evaluation even more closely with the sustainability goals of the UN Agenda 2030, which led to this year’s breakdown by transformation fields. The announcement of the winner will take place on December 4th, 2020. With this award, the Stiftung Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitspreis e.V. (German Sustainability Award Foundation) is honouring companies that combine economic success with social responsibility and environmental protection for the 13th time.
“We very much appreciate that our efforts in the area of resources are seen and appreciated”, says Thomas Fuhr, COO Fittings LIXIL International and Co-CEO Grohe AG. “The nomination as finalist is a further incentive for us to actively promote the topic of resource conservation. Not only with our water- and energy-saving product portfolio, but also with regard to the entire value chain down to the product packaging: Within the scope of our Less Plastic Initiative we have saved 21 million packaging materials made of plastic so far and have thus already achieved 2/3 of our 35 million target”.
Sustainability at GROHE is an ongoing process with ambitious goals. By 2021, for example, all product packaging is to be designed plastic-free and in addition to the production sites, which already operate CO2-neutrally, the sales companies are also to be made climate neutral. For its ongoing efforts in this area, the brand has now been selected as one of the finalists for the German Sustainability Award for the third time in succession.
