Haykel Hospital – Koura, December 2, 2022: The University of Balamand (UOB) signs a Memorandum of Understanding with Haykel Hospital in presence of Dr. Elias Warrak, President of the University of Balamand, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Sami Azar, the Chairman of Haykel Hospital, Mr. Richard Haykel, the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Nisrine Bazarbachi, the Chief Medical Officer at the hospital Dr. Lise Abi Rafeh, and deans and professors from UOB, in addition to a number of doctors, nurses and staff at Haykel Hospital.
Through this agreement, UOB and the Haykel Hospital aim to elevate the healthcare system in Lebanon by developing tailor-made medical programs for university students, with the objective of strengthening health services and allowing for greater medical accessibility.
In her intervention, Dr. Bazarbachi highlighted the hospital’s steady evolution from the seventies until today, as a healthcare leader in the North. She added: “Haykel Hospital is relentless in its mission to optimize all preventive and therapeutic resources in order to provide citizens with quality care in the midst of the challenges that face the medical sector in Lebanon.”
In his speech, Dr. Elias Warrak stated: “Haykel Hospital has provided North Lebanon with remarkable medical services. This collaboration with Haykel Hospital, with whom we share the same ethical values, is a valuable initiative for the university”.
In turn, Mr. Richard Haykel emphasized the value of remaining in Lebanon: “We all have to fight in order to stay in our beloved country. We are collaborating with UOB today, in order to strengthen the medical body and motivate medical staff to stay in Lebanon and even work harder to improve the medical sector, in light of the great challenges that urged doctors and healthcare professionals to emigrate.”
Dr. Azar gave a few words in conclusion: “I am confident that the Haykel institution will provide the highest quality education and training for our students, given that it provides great medical service and operates with skilled staff. These professional qualifications will definitely strengthen the academic and practical backgrounds of the students.”
