- Rehabilitation of the School of the Congregation of the Maronite Sisters of the Holy Family in Alma al Chaab, South Lebanon, enabling its reopening for the 2025–2026 academic year
- Up to 200 students from the region will have access to quality education
- A strong commitment to education and future generations
True to its two core pillars – access to education and humanitarian aid – the CMA CGM Foundation, chaired by Tanya Saadé Zeenny, is committed to ensuring educational continuity and strengthening school infrastructure to provide future generations with a sustainable, high-quality learning environment.
In this spirit, following the interruption of in-person classes, the Congregation of the Maronite Sisters of the Holy Family’s school in Alma al Chaab is once again welcoming its students into fully renovated classrooms. Managed by the Maronite Sisters of the Holy Family since 1994, this institution serves neighboring villages and plays a vital role in guaranteeing access to quality education for the local community. Before its rehabilitation, the school was at risk of closing for the current academic year.
Thanks to the support of the CMA CGM Foundation, the Congregation of the Maronite Sisters of the Holy Family’s school in Alma al Chaab has been rehabilitated and can now accommodate up to 200 students. The school is now ready for the 2025–2026 academic year. The three-month works included the rehabilitation of the buildings and the installation of a solar energy system to ensure autonomous electricity supply. In parallel, the Foundation provided financial support for operating costs for the school year, including partial coverage of teachers’ salaries and student tuition fees.
As a result, the school now offers a renovated learning environment, guaranteeing educational continuity for future generations. This initiative allows the school to keep its doors open and ensures the long-term sustainability of an essential educational institution for the local community.
This project adds to the Foundation’s broader initiatives in favor of education, such as equipping 21 schools across Lebanon with solar energy systems and supporting vocational training in maritime, agriculture, and renewable energy sectors.
Through these actions, the CMA CGM Foundation reaffirms its commitment to education – one of its two core pillars alongside humanitarian aid – and demonstrates its unwavering support for the education sector in Lebanon.
