Dubai, UAE, November 29 – Young Author Academy is delighted to announce the launch of ‘Disappear’, a novel by Mai Elsayed, a clinical hypnotherapist and the first young Arab author to compose a novel that discusses the dimensions of psychology in the form of a capturing narrative.
The young-adult novel is based on a true story where the author narrates the life events of Rose, who was ghosted by the love of her life. The readers get to live inside the main character’s mind who was going through the different stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance.
While bereavement due to the death of a loved one is widely discussed, grieving due to being ghosted is ignored and rarely explored. Ironically, technology and social media have been marketed as tools that aid globalization and mitigate distances. Disappear, on the other hand, unravels how these very tools can destroy relationships beyond repair.
“Topics like grief and how it could lead to depression and suicidal thoughts often go unnoticed and undiscussed. With the rise of technology, it is very easy to ghost people, especially in a long-distance relationship. I hope that ‘Disappear’ will help the victims of being ghosted realise that they are not alone and that there is hope to heal. It is my mission to eliminate mental health stigma and empower those who are struggling to face their demons by making them feel accepted, heard and most importantly understood,” said Mai Elsayed, Clinical Hypnotherapist and Author of Disappear.
“Life is a pattern of Yin-Yang. We can never see the light if we don’t know what darkness feels like. Similarly, the shadow of the dark times will cease to exist without the light of the good ones. Hence, the bitter-sweet balance of life. I am always keen to highlight that what matters are the lessons we learn from the undesirable experiences we go through. We may not be able to control the circumstances, but we always have the choice of how to react to the things that happen to us,” added Elsayed.
“Publishing ‘Disappear’ was a fabulous journey in itself for me as, essentially, the first reader. Peeking into the life of someone who has suffered immense sadness was heartbreaking, yet incredibly empathy invoking. Mai’s novel had me hooked from the beginning and had me ride a roller coaster of emotions to the very end,” commented Annemieke Woodbridge, General Manager, Young Author Academy.
The book with ISBN 979-8677923951 is available for purchase on Amazon in the UAE, UK, US, Australia, India and other parts of the world.
