After organizing a large number of screenings at different universities and Cultural centers, the Beirut Art Film Festival – BAFF continues its journey for the fifth week with free screenings and new documentaries at the Saint-Joseph University (USJ) – Théâtre Béryte from Tuesday 28 till Friday 31 of January.
The screenings include the film “La Bataille du Cèdre” (2018, 52’, Laurent Sorcelle, French/Arabic sub.) to be presented on Tuesday 28 January at 6:00 pm.
This film is about a lifetime project of Lebanese people dedicated to save the famous cedars tree forest of Becharé. The film showcases environmental, historical and cultural issues all around and inside the cedars forest. It is the story of a determined person who succeeds and achieves his goal in a country where environmental issues are not often dealt with.
The film “Mosques: Art & Space” (2018, 52’, Antoine Flandrin, French) will also be shown during this week, on Thursday 30 January at 5:35 pm.
From the Middle-East to the borders of Asia, from Andalusia to the banks of Bosphorus, this documentary is a journey to the heart of six of the greatest jewels of sacred Islamic art. It shines light on the technical and artistic achievements deployed to erect, decorate and embellish these masterpieces of Islam.
