Rebirth Beirut, in collaboration with Madi Foundation and Aida Cherfan Fine Art, cordially invites you to a special tribute honoring the late Hussein Madi. The exhibition will showcase a retrospective featuring selected artworks from 1960s to 2022, highlighting Madi’s great contributions to the art world.
The public opening will take place on Thursday, May 16th, 2024, from 6 pm to 9 pm at Rebirth Beirut’s cultural space located in Gemmayze. The exhibition will run until Tuesday, May 28th, 2024, with visiting hours from 3 pm to 7 pm daily, except Sundays.
The artwork include works on paper, on canvas, graphic art as well as sculptures and themes explored include women, birds, bulls, and others, showcasing the breadth of Madi’s creative vision.
Selected artworks from the exhibition will be available for purchase, offering art enthusiasts and collectors the opportunity to acquire pieces from this distinguished artist’s collection.
Hussein Madi, often hailed as the Arab world’s Picasso, passed away on January 17th, 2024, at the age of 86. Renowned for his distinctive style characterized by radical geometric patterns and elegant curves.
Gaby Fernaine, President and Founder of Rebirth Beirut, expressed gratitude and pride in hosting this significant tribute, stating, “We are honored to pay homage to the extraordinary talent of Hussein Madi. His artistic vision has left an indelible mark on Lebanon and the Middle East, and we are privileged to showcase his timeless creations.”
Part of the proceeds from the exhibition will contribute to supporting Rebirth Beirut’s initiatives, including infrastructure projects aimed at the rehabilitation of traffic lights, street lighting, and other vital projects serving the beautiful capital of Beirut.
