How It Started
PIK’D Gallery, led by art and design advisor and collector Randa Missir, emerged organically from her personal journey of passion and experimentation in the world of design. What started as a private collection blossomed into a curated space, showcasing a unique blend of ceramic and glass pieces from internationally renowned designers and exceptional Lebanese talents.
Randa ignited her artistic passion at design fairs, sourcing and acquiring a unique collection of ceramic and glass pieces. Collaborating with her spouse interior designer Claude Missir in styling spaces, her private collection gathered through months and even years evolved into the driving force behind her true calling as a gallery owner and curator.
A Vibrant Turn
PIK’D Gallery witnessed a transformation marked by the Beirut Explosion in August 2020. This tragedy not only resulted in the loss of the majority of Randa’s collection but also led to a personal injury requiring 18 months of rehabilitation. Yet, it was during this challenging time that Randa Missir’s aesthetic sensibilities took a vibrant, more colorful turn.
Empowering Lebanese Emerging Talent
Randa Missir’s commitment to the sustainability of the art industry is evident in PIK’D Gallery’s dynamic support for emerging talent. Serving as a platform for young artists, the gallery nurtures new voices, contributing to the vibrant tapestry of contemporary craft.
Initially a space dedicated to pieces by internationally renowned, super-designers represented at such prestigious institutions such as MOMA and the V&A, her business model took on an alternate trajectory. Randa Missir’s belief in the importance of incorporating emerging Lebanese talent into her collections became a driving force, reinforcing the gallery as a space that celebrates the diversity of contemporary craft. Post-explosion, PIK’D Gallery extended this commitment by actively promoting local artists, reinforcing its role as a space celebrating the diversity of contemporary Lebanese talent.
“I take it upon myself as a collector to grant young artists whose work greatly appeals to me the opportunity to showcase their private collections at my gallery.”
