As part of its Lebanese edition, Photomed, the Festival of Mediterranean Photography, organized a contest for Lebanese photographers resident in Lebanon.
The results were announced at the Institut français du Liban in Beirut in the presence of Véronique Aulagnon, Director of the Institut français du Liban, Eric Lebas, Cultural Attaché at the French Embassy, Philippe Heullant, President of Photomed, Serge Akl, Vice-President of Photomed and Director of the Lebanese Tourism Office in Paris, Tony Hage, Treasurer of Photomed, Guillaume de Sardes, Artistic Director of Photomed, as well as the artists and the media.
The contest highlights the valuable partnership between the Institut français du Liban and Photomed, joining the primary mission of the Lebanese Tourism Office in Paris, co-organizer, which is to create cultural exchanges and a bridge between Lebanon and France.
The First Prize was won by Sirine Fattouh who will have the opportunity to exhibit her work at the upcoming Photomed Festival in Sanary in France that will take place in May 2017.
As for Nasri Sayegh who received the second prize, his work will be exhibited in September 2017 at the gallery of the Institut français du Liban.
The jury of the contest was composed of renowned personalities from the photography field: Philippe Heullant (Co-Founder and President of Photomed), Guillaume de Sardes (artistic director of Photomed), and Alain Fleischer (artist and Le Fresnoy Director).
Photomed Liban is held under the patronage of the Lebanese Ministry of Tourism and is co-organized by the Lebanese Tourism Office in Paris. Byblos Bank is the main partner of the Festival.
The 4th edition of Photomed Liban runs until February 8, 2017 and presents the works of international and Lebanese photographers in the following venues: Le Gray, Beirut (Martyr’s Square) with Nicole Herzog-Verrey, Byblos Bank Headquarters (Achrafieh) with Alain Fleischer, Richard Dumas and Sergio Strizzi, D BEIRUT (Seaside Road, Bourj Hammoud) with Wassim Ghozlani, Ferran Freixa, Nick Hannes, Danielle Arbid and the following Lebanese galleries that were invited to present Lebanese photographers: Galerie Agial with Clara Abi Nader, Galerie Alice Mogabgab with Maria Chakhtoura, Galerie Janine Rubeiz with Rania Matar and François Sargologo, Galerie Tanit with Gilbert Hage, Galerie The Alternative with Michel Zoghzoghi. The Institut français du Liban (Damascus Road) with Christine Alaoui and Marc Riboud , and Station (Jisr El Wati) with George Awde, Lara Tabet, Giulio Rimondi, Bilal Tarabey and the winners of LensCulture.
