- Oliver Solberg and Elliott Edmondson lead GAZOO Racing 1-2 finish
- Sixth consecutive manufacturers’ championship equals long-standing WRC record
Dubai, UAE – 17 September 2026: GAZOO Racing World Rally Team (GR-WRT) secured its sixth consecutive FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) manufacturers’ title* at Rally Chile, where Oliver Solberg and co-driver Elliott Edmondson claimed victory in the No. 99 Toyota GR YARIS Rally1. Teammates Sébastien Ogier and Vincent Landais finished second in the No. 1 Toyota GR YARIS Rally1 to complete a 1-2 finish for the team.
The team’s latest title success equals two long-standing WRC records, matching the six consecutive championships achieved by Italian automaker Lancia between 1987 and 1992 and bringing Toyota level with the with the marque on 10 manufacturers’ titles in total.

Toyoda added: “However, there is still plenty to look forward to this season. The battle for the drivers’ championship remains incredibly intense, and all five drivers in our team still have a chance of becoming champion. Held on the gravel roads of Chile’s Bio Bío region, Rally Chile began in wet and muddy conditions, where Solberg and Edmondson excelled to establish an early lead. As the stages became drier and more abrasive, the pair gradually extended their advantage before securing victory by 16.6 seconds with the fastest time in the rally-ending Power Stage.
The victory is Solberg and Edmondson’s second of the 2026 season following their season-opening triumph at Rallye Monte-Carlo. It also marks the 11th win for the Toyota GR YARIS Rally1 from the opening 12 rallies of the season and the team’s eighth 1-2 finish.
Ogier and Landais were sixth overall after the opening stage before fighting back to finish second. The pair also topped the Super Sunday classification, while Ogier equalled Sébastien Loeb’s record of 120 WRC podium finishes.
The victory sees Solberg maintain third place in the drivers’ championship, as GAZOO Racing crews continue to occupy the top four positions in the standings. With two rounds remaining, Toyota has secured its sixth consecutive manufacturers’ championship.

From 2026, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing has reverted to the name GAZOO Racing. The team competes in top-level motorsport categories such as the FIA World Rally Championship, as well as in customer motorsport activities using production vehicles.
Round thirteen of the 2026 FIA WRC is Rally Italia Sardegna (1-4 October), which moves to an autumn date for the first time since 2020. The demanding island event features fast but narrow gravel stages and rocky, abrasive surfaces.
