October Concert to Raise Funds for Families in Need
Beirut, Lebanon – 2026: Bassma Association held a press conference to announce a special concert featuring acclaimed artist Hiba Tawaji on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 8:30 PM at the Casino du Liban Theater, under the musical direction of renowned Oussama Rahbani. The concert is part of the Association’s ongoing efforts to support families in need, with all proceeds going toward Bassma’s mission and programs.
The press conference took place at La Martingale at Casino du Liban and brought together Oussama Rahbani, members of the media, Bassma’s partners, supporters and friends. The event also featured a special live appearance by Hiba Tawaji from Paris, bringing her directly into the conversation around the concert and the cause it supports.
During the event, Bassma also launched its campaign marking its upcoming 25th anniversary. A short film looked back at some of the Association’s key milestones and initiatives over the past quarter century, sharing the stories of families it has supported throughout the years and highlighting the volunteers, supporters and partners who have helped sustain its humanitarian mission.
Bassma also unveiled its new website, offering the public a closer look at the Association’s mission, programs and activities, as well as the different ways they can support its work, whether through volunteering, donating or helping spread its message.
Sandra Klat Abdelnour, Founder and President of Bassma, opened the event by thanking Hiba Tawaji and Oussama Rahbani for supporting the Association’s mission, along with Bassma’s partners, friends and supporters. She emphasized that every ticket purchased represents far more than a seat in the theater; it is a helping hand extended to a family in need.
Looking back on Bassma’s journey as it approaches its 25th year, Abdelnour said:
“When we look back today on nearly 25 years of Bassma, we do not see numbers or simply years that have passed. We see faces, homes and stories that have become part of our own lives. We see mothers, fathers and children who shared some of their most difficult moments with us and allowed us to stand beside them.”
She continued:
“Today, we renew our commitment to Bassma’s mission because the need continues to grow. Thirty-three percent of Lebanese families live below the poverty line, while 73% of Lebanese people experience deprivation of essential needs, including education, healthcare, food and basic services. After 25 years, we are proud to have positively impacted the lives of more than one million people through programs spanning education, food assistance, healthcare, psychosocial support, home rehabilitation, employment opportunities and humanitarian response during wars and crises.”
Speaking live from Paris, Hiba Tawaji shared what participating in the concert means to her on a personal and humanitarian level.
“Every person, regardless of their profession or field, has something they can give. Even the smallest contribution can make a difference in someone else’s life, bringing back a smile or simply reminding them that they are not alone, that someone is thinking of them, supporting them and standing by their side,” she said.
Tawaji also answered questions from members of the media during the live session.
Oussama Rahbani also praised Bassma’s longstanding efforts to support families and highlighted the importance of the humanitarian mission it has carried forward since its establishment.
“We are very happy to be part of this humanitarian initiative. It is the least we can do, particularly amid the many challenges and difficult circumstances Lebanon continues to face,” he said.
With its 25th anniversary approaching, Bassma sees the milestone not only as an opportunity to celebrate its journey so far, but also as the start of a new chapter. The Association remains committed to standing beside families in need, expanding its circle of support and turning every contribution into a new opportunity, and every act of solidarity into hope.
