Ajman, UAE – 30 July 2026: Sheikh Khalifa Medical City – Ajman (SKMCA), governed by The Medical Office, a subsidiary of PureHealth, the largest healthcare group in the Middle East, has been awarded the prestigious Australian Council on Healthcare Standards International (ACHS) Centre of Excellence (CoE) recognition for its Women and Children’s Hospital in the specialties of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Pediatrics. This achievement highlights SKMCA’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality, integrated and patient-centred care for women, newborns and children across the Northern Emirates.
The Centre of Excellence recognition reflects the hospital’s adherence to internationally benchmarked standards in clinical quality, patient safety, governance and continuous improvement. The Women and Children’s Hospital currently serves more than 1,326 patients annually, reflecting its important role in supporting women, newborns and children across Ajman and the Northern Emirates. The designation further reinforces SKMCA’s strategic vision of providing evidence-based, compassionate and coordinated healthcare services throughout every stage of life.

The Women and Children’s Hospital offers comprehensive services in obstetrics, gynaecology and pediatrics. These include maternity and high-risk pregnancy care, women’s health screening and fertility assessment, neonatal and pediatric medicine, pediatric emergency and critical care, as well as specialised pediatric services in surgery, endocrinology, neurology, gastroenterology and cardiology. In 2025, the hospital managed2,216 deliveries/high-risk pregnancies and 34,078 paediatric emergency visits.
Serving expectant mothers, women, newborns, children, adolescents and their families, the centre brings together multidisciplinary teams of physicians, nurses, allied health professionals and quality specialists to deliver seamless care guided by international best practices and standardised clinical pathways. The achievement was supported by a series of quality initiatives, including enhancements to clinical processes, strengthened governance frameworks, the development of key performance indicators, regular internal audits and continuous monitoring of patient outcomes. These services are supported by57 physicians and 155 nurses, further supported by other shared services including allied health professionals and administration staffdedicated to women’s and children’s health.
