L’ART DU REGARD
At first glance, it feels familiar. Romantic silhouettes. Pastel hues. Florals arranged just so. But
look closer… and the illusion starts to crack.
Pieces built on controlled beauty, where what seems ornamental reveals intention. The
collection draws from a world once imagined like a painted scene of perfect skies,
idealized gardens, women composed into graceful stillness. Here, that image is revisited…
then subtly undone.
Embroideries are brushstrokes rather than florals: printed, beaded, and appliquéd to create
shadows that feel drawn, not organic. Trompe-l’oeil runs through the collection, blurring
what is real and what is rendered, reminiscent of the theatrical artistry and ornamental
precision that began to flourish in the late Renaissance, when gardens and courtly dress
alike were composed as living tableaux. Tailored gowns with balloon sleeves and fitted skirts
set the tone, their precise gold floral embroidery echoing the decorative richness and
emerging grandeur of the gardens of Versailles. Capes and corseted bodices open into silk
tulle skirts, where florals fade from dense to subtle, suggesting the transition from structured
parterres to softer, unfolding landscapes.
Baroque beaded tulles in gold, cherry red, and dusty blue shape mermaid gowns, strapless
columns, and sculpted minis. A cherry red sequined column delivers drama without volume,
dusty blue gowns soften through heart necklines and three-dimensional florals. Darkness is
graphic. High-collared, pleated sequins, velvet trims, while final looks push artifice further
with leather flowers, metallic tweeds, and sequins that dissolve like pigments.

Tony Ward’s Fall-Winter 26-27 collection invites that pause. A closer look. A second reading.
An intentional illusion.
Once the surface begins to peel, what remains is fashion that understands its own beauty.
