On Friday April 28, 2023, “The Human Condition”, a collective exhibition which presents a variety of universal experiences rooted in the essence of humanity, will kick off at Rebirth Beirut, Gemmayzeh in collaboration with Arneli Art Gallery and curated by Manar Ali Hassan.
The exhibition features more than 60 artworks ranging from paintings, mixed media, works on paper, photography, sculptures, poetry and video art, as 15 artists seek to understand and represent the human condition through their work.
The exhibition represents the future of art in Lebanon, as it includes young and emerging artists who reflect on the struggles and triumphs that define what it means to be human and who are influenced by major existential issues such as the meaning of life, the nature of reality and the existence of a higher power.
The 15 participating artists are Aya Abu Hawash, Dzovig Arnelian, Elizabeth Hefty-Khoury, Joanna Raad, Krikor Avessian, Lodi Sabra, Mayssa Khoury, Mary Kaady, Maral Der Boghossian, Moushegh Karavartanian, Noura Bakkar, Sarkis Sislian, Tarek Saab, Toufic Melhem with a special focus on the work of the international artist Johnny Semaan.
The exhibition also includes the participation of writers Ziad Jreige, Rima Barakat, Rebecca Whiting and Rawan Ezzedine.
The exhibition comes within the framework of efforts to revive the city of Beirut by supporting Rebirth Beirut with part of its proceeds. On this occasion, Mr. Gaby Fernaine, founder and president of Rebirth Beirut, said:
“It is an honor for us to host this exhibition, which includes a diverse and distinguished collection of artworks, and we hope that all visitors will have an enjoyable experience and that this exhibition will encourage artists and show the importance of art in our daily lives.”
The opening ceremony will be on Friday April 28, 2023, from 6pm to 9pm, and it will include a variety of live performances, and the exhibition will continue to receive visitors until May 5, between 12pm and 7pm (except Sunday).
