“The lion who lost his tail”: the bestseller for children and adults… Order now before it’s too late!
You are an author but also a well-known influencer in France and, if I may say so, in the French-speaking world. Can you tell us more about yourself? Why did you choose the nickname of “Papa Chouch”?
I created Papa Chouch’s Facebook page over 5 years ago. It is a funny page dedicated to parents. The main purpose of it is to laugh about our role as parents, which is far from being simple. I started by writing quotes and texts and it turned out that it has a huge impact on the page’s followers.
Why “Papa Chouch”? Well, that is what they call me at home. Chouch is the diminutive of the French word “Chouchou”, which means “dear” or “our favorite person in the world”.
How did it all start? Why did you choose to focus your career as an author and blogger on your experience as a father?
It all started in January 2016… I had some free time as well as a strong desire to share my life as a young father… At first, I must admit that it did not get the result I wished for… I even had to beg my wife to like my page. She did it out of family solidarity.
The reason why I wanted to share my life is because, whereas there are many pages on the daily life of mothers, you can barely find anything related to a father’s daily life as a parent, which I find too bad since the joys and sorrows are shared in the process of raising children together.
You published a very successful children’s first book. Can you tell us more about that? How did you get the idea?
I wrote this first book “The lion who lost his tail” because I wanted to compose a story about self-acceptance and tolerance. And since I love teasing and I am good at being humoristic, I have slipped into the text a lot of funny references addressed to parents, so it is difficult for them to read it without laughing. You can only but giggle when going through this Lion’s story and that is what made a lot of people order the book. In fact, we succeeded, within a year, to sold over 25,000 copies and I can tell you that it’s highly well rated on the platforms where it is available.
This book is dedicated to both children and parents. How and for what reason?
This book is for children aged from 3 to 8 years. It tells the story of Orion, a lion who wakes up one morning without his tail and is convinced that his wife will no longer want to have him by her side. He will then start doing anything to find or replace his missing part. The topic is broached in a very playful and educational way which will amuse the parents also because of all the word play involved in the story.
How do you see parents-children’s relationships nowadays? What advice could you give to parents to build strong and trusting relationships with their little ones?
Parents-children’s relationships seem good to me. I find that there are more and more fathers who are devoted to their parenting role and that are getting more and more involved in the education of their children. There will always be a lot to learn from these experiences but in my opinion, we are going in the right direction in this matter.
I would never give some advice, simply because I believe that what works for me may not be suitable for others… Moreover, you could clearly see that within the same family, what works for the eldest child does not necessarily work for the others, since all are different and unique…
Any upcoming projects?
Yes always! At the end of August 2021, I am releasing a funny parenting magazine that should be really amusing with its 100 pages of fake advice, fake interviews, and a lot of humor.
January 2022 shall mark the end of the trilogy with the release of the third volume, the last one after “The lion who lost his tail” and “The beaver who dreamed of having a friend. ” Here is the link to the bookselling sites: https://yoeditions.com/collections/livres
