Beirut – Lebanon, November 4, 2021:
ArtEvolution, a project by the Goethe-Institut Libanon and supported by the German Federal Foreign office, showcases eight artists and practitioners in or around the field of performing arts, in which they implemented their research and practices throughout 2021. ArtEvolution is thrilled to announce that the presentation of its participants’ work-in-progress – which was developed over the past five months – can be seen on the 13th and 14th of November at Mansion, Hamra.
ArtEvolution provides a space for the development of an activist, socially committed and at the same time reflective artistic production. It also seeks to support collaborative structures within the cultural scene, in which knowledge can be shared, experiences exchanged and impulses passed on.
“The diversity of this group is a source of richness and not conflict. The participants are so genuine – they are who they are. I’m thankful for being together. You made me rethink and decide to stay in Lebanon due to you.” – ArtEvolution Workshop participants
During its first edition, the participants went through four phases during the programme: the ArtEvolution Workshop that took place in Hammana artist house on collaborative and inclusive working methods, the ArtEvolution Reflection a five month long project development phase during which they received funding to advance their projects, the ArtEvolution Impulse – a series of round-table discussions and the ArtEvolution Exchange where the participants were invited to attend the Ruhrtriennale and the “This is not Lebanon” Art-Festivals in Germany and exchange with German cultural practitioners. The final stage will be the ArtEvolution Platform when they will be presenting their work in various formats.
