A new Administrative Committee for the Lebanese Tennis Federation, presided by Oliver Faisal, was elected during the General Assembly held in the Grand Hall of the Automobile and Touring Club of Lebanon (ATCL) in Kaslik (15 km north of the Lebanese capital Beirut).

The Lebanese tennis family reinsured trust in President Faisal and his completed nine-members list and elected them for a new term of four years. Faisal’s list, which included four women, a very high “women’s quota” had an overwhelming success from the beginning of the process of counting votes as it gained 27 votes out of 28 and one paper was canceled i.e. Faisal got 27 votes out of 27 clubs entitled to vote. This is a clear demonstration of the trust granted by the Federation’s General Assembly in Faisal and his list which defeated the one composed of three members in which Alain Rizk got four votes, Wassim Seikaly and Ibrahim Abu Shaheen each two votes.
The election process was conducted in presence of lawyer Francois Saadeh Esq., representatives of the Olympic Committee, Muhammad Oweidat and Joanna Rammal, representatives of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the session was chaired by the oldest member delegated by the club, Samir Shaghoury, who read the names of the twelve candidates to fill the nine seats in the Administrative Committee. Then he indicated that 28 clubs out of the total of 30 clubs have the right to vote in order to start the electoral process remarkably organized while observing strict measures to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic. After counting the votes, the results was as followed knowing that one paper was canceled due to illegality :
Winners: Oliver Faisal (27 votes), Serge Zwein (25), Hassan Daouk (25), Raymond Kattoura (25), Lynn Bashour (25), Desiree Khalifeh (25), Nahia Abu Khalil (25), Nabil Qobeiter ( 24) and Mirna Abu Murad Khoury (24).
Losers: Alain Rizk (4), Wasim Seikaly (2) and Ibrahim Abu Shaheen (2).
When the results were announced, the audience applauded the winners. The latter held a meeting to distribute the positions as follows : Oliver Faysal (Chairman), Hassan Daouk (Vice President), Serge Zwein (Vice President), Raymond Kattoura(Secretary General ), Desiree Khalifeh (treasurer), Mirna Abu Murad Khoury (Accountant), Nabil Qabaiter, Lynn Bashour and NahiaAbu Khalil (Advisory Members).
Ordinary General Assembly
The Election General Assembly was preceded by an ordinary general assembly to read and approve the administrative and financial statements for the year 2020. After the Lebanese national anthem, President Faisal gave a speech to thank the General Assembly for its trust over the past four years, adding that the administrative committee was up to the expectations. He referred to the level of national teams in all age categories especially the Davis Cup team. He considered that the year 2020 was difficult on the economic and health levels and added that the elections for the new administrative committee will take place in a democratic environment and in light of a sporting spirit among the candidates. Faisal praised the clubs for their fruitful cooperation and the members of the administrative committee who worked hand in hand and in a high spirit of solidarity. He also thanked the members who did not run for the elections namely the two Vice-Presidents Patrick Makhbat and Arif Mardini, Alain Sayegh Secretary-General, and members of the Federation Roger Bassil and Nicolas Sassine. He continued saying “We built the future for the benefit of tennis and we are reaping the seeds. I will explain a significant matter : the sums I have contributed with during my tenure are donations to the Lebanese Federation and not a debt, and no one can question the integrity of the Federation. Finally, Faisal thanked ATCL club for hosting the two general assemblies. Then the federation’s Secretary General Alain Sayegh read the minutes of the previous General Assembly session that was held in February and the detailed and comprehensive administrative statement for the current year were approved unanimously. Treasurer Desiree Khalifeh also read the financial statement for the year 2020 breakdown in numbers which was approved unanimously also.
The president of the Mont la salle Club Jihad Salameh made an intervention to thank the president and members of the Federation’s Administrative Committee for their tireless work in the interest of tennis, and highlighted the effort made by the Secretary General of the Federation Alain Sayegh and his cooperation with the president and other members during the past four years.
