With the aim of creating new investment opportunities for Lebanon, especially in difficult times, the Global Council for Business & Trade and the Georgian Lebanese Chamber of Commerce, organized the International Business Forum launched in Georgia, which lasted for 3 days in the historic hall in the Biltmore Hotel, which used to be the parliament at the days of the Soviet Union in Tbilisi.
The conference was attended by representatives of the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economy, Tourism and Agriculture, in addition to the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and other official bodies that unanimously praised the role of the Georgian-Lebanese Chamber of Commerce in activating trade and investment relations.
Businessmen and investors from Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan, Latvia, India, the United States and Cyprus attended the conference.
Hikmat Abou Zeid, Vice President of OMT and Honorary President of the Georgian-Lebanese Chamber of Commerce, considered that this forum comes as a continuation of the activities started by the Chamber in the past, and considered that there is a national responsibility that “makes us seek to create new markets for Lebanon, especially to get out of the crisis.”
He added: “We came to restore the wheel of life to the bilateral relations between Georgia and Lebanon. We came out of a sense of national responsibility that obliges us not to give up. Today we seek to export Lebanese creativity in all fields: fashion and clothing industry, culture, information technology, theater, Lebanese wine and cuisine.
Consul of Lebanon in Georgia, President of the Lebanese-Georgian Chamber of Commerce Dr. Anestass El Murr considered in his speech that “over the past seven years, we have moved from one event to another but also from one achievement to another: Real estate, investments, trade in goods and services, food and beverages, and travel initiatives, tourism are among the many initiatives that we have undertaken and facilitated.
He also thanked the honorary president of the Chamber, Hikmat Abou Zeid, for his efforts and his role in contributing to the success of the forum.
The opening ceremony was followed by meetings that lasted for two days, during which Lebanese businessmen met with their Georgian counterparts with official and governmental support and presence. The conference also sought to find new investment horizons for all who participated in it.
