Byblos, 21st May, 2017
The Alice Eddé Boutique, Byblos Old Souk
Summer was welcomed to Byblos in spectacular form on Sunday, 21st May. There was a ‘flowerful’ display of creativity, as visitors competed to make the prettiest May Basket.
In keeping with tradition, the ‘baskets’ were actually highly decorated little paper cones adorned with ribbons and filled with flowers from the Eddé gardens.
As guests nibbled on elaborate flower-shaped cookies, washed down with freshly pressed carrot and apple juice, the serious business of cutting and sticking was taking place.
The competition was friendly, yet fierce, with children challenging adults, and Parisian ladies taking on young boys from Egypt, but the judging panel was up to the task!
Debbie Malek led the workshop, and was helped with the tough job of choosing a winner by celebrated artists Reynaldo Sayegh and Gisella Younes Anzulovich.
First place went to Gaby Assaker, a journalism student, who spent a lot of time and care selecting her winning materials. Second place went to Chloe du Parc and third to ZeinaChedid.
Yet another unusual and fun-filled event led by Alice Eddé and her team.
