In the framework of the European Union-funded project “Promotion of Social Dialogue in Lebanon”, the Ministry of Labour in cooperation with the Economic and Social Council of Lebanon (ECOSOC) is conducting a series of training workshops for Tripartite Social Partners from the public and private sector.
A 2-day workshop under the title “Negotiation Skills and Conflict Management” was held on Tuesday March 28 and Wednesday March 29 at Hotel Lancaster Tamar Hazmieh. The workshop was attended by more than 20 representatives from the Ministry of Labour, ECOSOC, Association of Lebanese Industrialists (ALI), Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (FCCIAL), National Employment Office (NEO), General Confederation of Lebanese Workers (CGTL) and Lebanese Development Network (LDN).
The objective of this training was to teach the participants how to negotiate effectively and to achieve mutual gain outcomes while limiting the negative aspects of conflicts by increasing the positive aspects. They also learned how to handle and mediate conflicts in such a way that they enhance learning and group outcomes, including effectiveness and performance in organizational settings.
“This workshop is useful and very important for representatives from the General Confederation of Lebanese Workers (CGTL) considering the current economic situation, where we constantly need to resolve disputes between employers and workers” said Akram, a participant from CGTL.
The training will also be organised on Wednesday April 5 and Thursday April 6 at the CGTL premises for a second group of representatives from the tripartite social partners.
The topic of this training is part of the first training module that was launched in February 2017 and will run until April 2017. The trainings aim at enhancing the capacity of the Government of Lebanon and the Lebanese Social Partners including Civil Society to be promoters of a genuine Social Dialogue. The trainings provided under the “Promotion of Social Dialogue” in Lebanon will create a positive environment that allows networking among the social partners and fosters a sustainable social dialogue.
