Mrs. Randa Bdeir, Group Head of e-Payment Solutions and Card Services at Bank Audi, seized the opportunity to underline that “considering the latest world trends and the spike in mobile usage, Bank Audi has invested in mobile payments by developing and launching the NFC Mobile Payment technology in Lebanon in April 2013.” She added: “We have long focused our efforts on creating a cashless society, which is why we launched the “Tap2Pay” service brandwhich promotes cashless payments through a series of different devices including cards (launched in 2011), mobile phones (for NFC smartphones), watches, stickers/tags (for non-NFC smartphones), key chains and bracelets.”
Bdeir continued: “Today and only 6 months after the launch of the “Tap2Pay” service, one of our most important achievements was the ability to create awareness around this new payment solution, its convenience and practicality. Through the “Tap2Pay” service campaign, especially TV commercials, we succeeded in creating a shift in the mind-set of peoplein Lebanon who now accept this kind of payment without hesitation. There is no doubt that the launch of the “Tap2Pay” service also encouraged MENA banks to follow the trend and invest in research and development to learn more about this new technology and draw efficient action plans to implement it in the near future.”
