Beirut, November 17, 2018, Under the High Patronage of His Excellency, the President of the Lebanese Republic, General Michel Aoun, the Lebanese Order of Pharmacists organized its 26th Annual Congress entitled “Teaming Up for Excellence in Patient Care”. The event was held on the 16th, 17th and 18th of November, 2018, at the Hilton Habtoor Hotel, Beirut in the presence of the representative of HE General Michel Aoun, Mr. Melhem Riachy, the representative of the Prime Minister, the president of the parliamentary health commission Dr. Assem Aaraji, representatives of international pharmacy associations, the President of the Order of Pharmacists Dr. Georges Sili, representatives of the security forces in Lebanon and the deans of the schools of Pharmacy in Lebanon.
The participants had the chance to attend sessions on chronic and infectious diseases in both community and hospital settings and highlighted the important role of practicing pharmacists in applying patient-centered care. Keynote speakers covered various topics including pharmacy practice, medication safety, optimizing patient care, soft skills and management. At the end of the opening ceremony, medals and trophies were distributed to officials and pharmacists who had practiced the profession for more than 45 years.
During the opening ceremony on the 17th of November, Dr. Georges Sili, President of the OPL, said: “the Lebanese Order of Pharmacists is anticipating health-related issues by its distinctive approach, encouraging “a comprehensive patient-centered care through an innovative role of the pharmacist, maintaining the privileges of the pharmacist and protecting the profession”.”
The closing ceremony on the 18th of November, honored the valedictorians of 2018 and ended with the oath of the newly registered pharmacists to the Lebanese Order of Pharmacists.
