LAU Medical Center-Rizk Hospital organized an internal event on the occasion of World Patient Safety Day.
World Patient Safety Day was established in 2019 with the objectives of increasing public awareness and engagement, enhancing global understanding, and working towards global solidarity and action to enhance patient safety and reduce patient harm.
The aim of the event was to further reinforce the center’s commitment and compliance with the 6 international patient safety goals and to further ensure that patients receive the best possible care and are treated with compassion and respect.
Led by Dr. Hanane Barakat Interim CMO, Dr Elsy Ramia clinical Pharmacy Coordinator and Mrs Joyce Nasr from the quality department, the event began with a tour of the hospital, during which doctors, staff and trainees were quizzed on the patient safety goals; and those who answered correctly were rewarded with a gift.
Later, all the employees gathered in the auditorium for the reveal of the winners of the “World Patient Safety Day Competition”. The competition was launched among hospital staff, whereby they were encouraged to send a photo or video that portrays a successful patient safety story, activity, or practice that they encountered. All the photos were displayed in the auditorium and three winners were selected by a jury, with first prize being awarded to ICU department.
At the end of the event, all the employee sealed their commitment to adhering to the international patient safety goals and practices and the hospitals mission of Healing with Compassion by signing on a giant banner.
